What is LXI ? LXI is the
LAN-based successor to GPIB, combining the advantages of
Ethernet with the simplicity and familiarity of GPIB.
The LXI Standard has already been adopted by
many of the best known test and measurement companies as the
natural successor to GPIB, and others are currently in the
process of adopting it.
TTi and LXI From 2008, newly
introduced bus programmable instruments and power supplies from
TTi will incorporate LXI as the primary bus interface for system
applications. Other interfaces may also be
fitted, including RS-232 for legacy applications and USB for
simple PC control. TTi
and GPIB
TTi is not abandoning GPIB. Products which currently have
a GPIB interface will retain it, and some new products will be
optionally available with GPIB in addition to LAN/LXI.
However, GPIB is a relatively expensive interface and products
that include it will cost more than the equivalent products that
omit it. |
