Size and
Weight
Some manufacturers have stretched the term hand-held to cover any
battery powered instrument with a 'flat' format. Some
of these are more than twice the width of an average hand, and weigh as
much as a brick. Not so the PSA-T series.
The small size fits perfectly into the hand and the
low weight of less than 0.5 kg allows it to be carried anywhere.
The green outline
shows a typical 'hand-held' spectrum analyzer measuring around 26 cm by
17 cm (10.2" x 6.7"), and weighing more than 2 kg (4.4 lbs),
The grey outline shows the PSA-T series
to the same scale. It measures only 17 cm x 9.5 cm (6.7" x 3.7")
and weighs less than 0.5 kg (1.1 lb).
That's around one third of the size and one quarter of the weight !
The rechargeable batteries provide around four hours of
continuous operation. To conserve the batteries, the unit can be
set to turn itself off after a user defined delay from the last
operation (5 to 60 mins). The analyzer re-starts instantly with
none of the start-up delays of other instruments.
